Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze Receives the Flame of Peace Award for His Tireless Efforts to Promote Love and Peace

Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, President of the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), received the Flame of Peace Award for his tireless efforts to promote world peace during the World Leader Summit of Love and Peace on October 10, 2018 at the Grand Hotel Wien in Vienna, Austria. FOWPAL has traveled to 84 countries, after visiting the five Nordic countries, Monaco, France, and Andorra in 2018. It co-organized the World Leader Summits of Love and Peace at the United Nations headquarters in New York and in Vienna in 2018 to consolidate global leaders’ opinions on peace. In particular, Dr. Hong stressed in his speech at the World Peace and Love Conference at the United Nations in April that unity based on conscience is the key to fostering sustainable relationships. His idea resonated with ambassadors and representatives from 22 Permanent Missions, and it was suggested that the idea of conscience should be on the agenda of UN conferences so as to inspire people to take proactive actions toward love and peace.

H.I.R.H. Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen, president of the Flame of Peace, presented the award to Dr. Hong. The event was attended by nearly a hundred dignitaries from 16 countries, including Mr. Ernst Woller, First President of the Vienna Provincial Parliament; Dr. Werner Fasslabend, former Minister of Defense of Austria; H.H. Prince Bernard Ndouga from Cameroon; and ambassadors and representatives from the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Myanmar, the Philippines, Namibia, Algeria, and Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

Dr. Hong delivered a speech and emphasized, “All efforts in technology and economic development should eventually follow the laws of nature to advance human development while striking a balance between spirituality and technology as well as between yin and yang. That is the focus of sustainable development. Since ‘love and peace’ are the common aspirations of all humanity, we believe that the promotion of all human activities that are driven by ‘conscience’ will form ‘the culture of peace,’ which will benefit all world citizens.”

H.I.R.H. Sandor Habsburg-Lothringen, vice president of the Flame of Peace, stated that we should all live in peace and love, and that he is willing to work closely with the volunteers led by Dr. Hong to convince more world leaders of the importance of love and peace.

The Flame of Peace Award is the highest honor awarded by the Flame of Peace, an Austrian NGO. The Award is to recognize world leaders, outstanding leaders, peace workers and organizations for their actual contribution to world peace. Recipients of the Award since 2004 included notable figures such as H.R.H. Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain and former Austrian Minister of Defense Dr. Werner Fasslabend.

On October 10, 2018, FOWPAL hosted the World Leader Summit of Love and Peace and the Ceremony of Ringing the Bell of World Peace and Love. More than ten dignitaries, including Mr. Ernst Woller, First President of the Vienna Provincial Parliament, rang the Bell and made their wishes for peace. The occasion was especially meaningful because the bell-ringing ceremony took place in Vienna for the first time while the presidency of the Council of the European Union is currently held by Austria.

FOWPAL, established in 2000 by Dr. Hong in the United States, has been promoting love and peace through various activities, such as holding Summits of Love and Peace, conducting cultural exchanges, and hosting bell- ringing ceremonies. Dr. Hong is respected by the international community, and he met the president and vice president of the Flame of Peace at an event for promoting peace. Dr. Hong presented Honorary International Ambassador of Peace Award to T.I.R.H. Sandor and Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen, and he hoped to unite kind-hearted influential leaders from around the world to build a culture of peace.
